Welcome to the new blog!

You just landed at my new consolidated blog site. In the past, I’ve kept two blog sites to help make navigating the CCNA content in my two books more managable. However, I think the multilevel menus in this new blog site take care of the navigation issues, so I’ve consolidated to one blog site called the CCNA blog. Welcome to the site!

Read more in this post to hear details about this blog migration, or just start using the site!

The New Blog: The CCNA Blog

This new blog site will be simply the CCNA blog. The two old blogs covered the first and second halves of the CCNA R&S content, and the new will cover all of CCNA R&S. Basically, I kept the old CCNA Blog and merged in the CCENT Blog’s content to make this new site. And since it covers all the topics in CCNA R&S, I’ll call it the CCNA blog. Simple enough.

The URLs

The new CCNA Blog will use the following URL – feel free to update any links:

blog.certskills.com

The Menu System to Match the Books’ Study Plans

My books follow a study plan with chapter-ending and part-ending reviews. (A book “part” is a set of 3-to-5 chapters.) I’ve categorized all the blog content to match that structure for the last several years so that you can use the blog when reading the books.

This new site has a similar menu system, just with multiple levels. Just hover over either of the book names on the left of the top menu at the top of this page, and the menu should appear with the Parts in each book. Hover over any Part and the Chapters in the Part should appear to the right. In effect, the menu provides three levels:

  • Book Name
  • Part Number/Name
  • Chapter Number/Name

Note that if you follow the study plan in the book, click on the chapter to see content related only to that chapter, but click on the part name to see all blog posts related to that part.

The Old Content: All Posts Merged

The new blog site has (almost) all the old blog posts just merged into a single site. I did remove a few posts on old outdated topics just to clean up the site. So, the starting point of the new blog is the combined content of the two old blogs.

The New Content: Packet Tracer Labs for the Books

I’ve also been working on a new series of how to use Packet Tracer to repeat the examples in the books as lab exercises. I’ll be starting the new series as soon as the migration completes – watch for the first of those posts later this week!

Comments and Subscriptions

Comments: Note that during the migration, I lost some blog comments from readers like you, particularly those that you posted in the old blogs over the last few weeks. My apologies. Feel free to re-post or re-comment if interested.

Comments (Part 2): While I have your attention, I use a security plugin that does not immediately post your comment if you’re a new user, instead leaving it for me to approve first. You may need to wait¬†again for that process to complete after posting comments in the new blog.

Subscription: For those of you who subscribe to the old CCNA blog, the subscription should transfer. If you subscribed only to the CCENT blog, you’ll need to subscribe again.

Welcome!

Thanks for listening. Hope you like the new blog space! Watch for the latest posts on the new series over the coming days.
