Question: Frame Relay Terms and Concepts

Imagine two routers, R1 and R2, connected with Frame Relay. How comfortable are you with what happens at Layer 2? Today’s open ended question looks at some of these terms.

R1 can send frames directly to R2. Imagine the FR header and trailer – something we admittedly do not discuss a lot for CCNA. But we do talk about some related concepts. What addresses exist? What values can the address have? Map the path of a FR frame from R1 to R2: what does the FR address look like at each point? What happens to the IP addresses in the encapsulated packet as it goes over the FR network? Ponder these, and toss out what you think.
